However there is still a difference in the RAM management between the 2 versions : i made the same exact test which is to batch open 400 jpg files ; version 25 crashes excatly when RAM is saturated :

Photoshop doesn't crash because of low RAM. Photoshop's memory requirement will normally exceed whatever RAM you may have installed, no matter how much you have. This is why Photoshop has a scratch disk, that's what carries the heavy memory load. The scratch disk is Photoshop's main memory; RAM is more like a cache. Low RAM is normal, and it will in most cases saturate up to the limit you set in Preferences.

So the memory usage in itself is nothing special. What's special is the difference. I can't explain that.

The crashing is something else, and the most likely cause is the GPU. I'd say about 95% of all crashes reported here are GPU-related. A new Photoshop version will have new GPU functions and new calls to the GPU, and latent problems can come to the surface.

Post Help > System Info. That might give a clue.

i'm experiencing a lot of crashes of Photoshop 25 because of RAM overflow ; none with Photoshop 22 ..

What is your memory allocation set to in Preferences?
