ACR mask not detecting people

I edit in Ps and use ACR as a filter - have been doing this for a long, long time with no issues. Now, it seems since the last Ps update to 25.11.0, when I go to ACR filter and select mask it is not detecting people. I reached out to Adobe support and they provided me a link to load another version of ACR, which seemed to work for a few edits, but now it's back to not detecting people. I am editing portraits, so there is nothing to cause confusion - a person and a white background, but cannot detect person 80% of the time.

Also I am noticing the remove tool in Ps is being glitchy. About 40% of the time it is leaving a grey or dark brown colored mark where I selected an item to be removed. No other layers are there at the time, just the one background layer.

The masks in LrC work perfectly, and it seems generative AI in Ps work fne as well.

So... any ideas on how to fix?

Hey, @KTPhotog. Welcome to the Photoshop Community. I'll move this to discussions for now & help you figure this out. Please share the system info from Photoshop Help > System info > Copy & paste into a text document > upload & attach here. 

 

In Photoshop, press & hold the CTRL + ALT key and go to Edit > Preferences > Camera Raw Preferences and select 'Yes' when prompted to reset Camera Raw preferences.

I reset ACR preferences as instructed and it worked for one edit. As soon
as I tried to edit the next photo it's right back to the same problem. ACR
not able to detect people and in Ps the remove tool not working. I have
attached the system info as requested.

As a working photographer this is a serious problem in my busiest period
and is causing major disruption to my workflow.

Please advise ASAP.
