Question

Actions to Javascript

Hi
When I record an action to do something like create a new brush setting and paint for example, the action saves the data like dimension, opacity, etc. And I can see that also when I Save as Javascript...
Now if I do the same for, let's say the blur tool, that uses brush aspects for dimension, opcity etc and record that. Those settings are not stored, nor saved to the batchplay of the javescript.
I even looked at Alchemist to see if that stores them mbut no.
CAn anyone tell me how these values if they are just replicas of brush settings acan be captured?

That has been my observation, too – the Brush tip settings (and changes to them) are not recorded but the »current« brush tip for the used Tool gets used when playing an Action.

So short of including the selection of Brush Presets in the Action recording Brush Strokes in Actions seems less than useful to me.

Hey, @rob art | illustration. Thanks for bringing this up. Has this worked as expected before?

In the Action Panel's Options menu, verify that the 'Allow tool recording' is enabled. If needed, I'll share this with the product team to verify. In the meantime, I'll request our Expert @Stephen Marsh to help identify the scope for this.

Thanks!

Hi @Sameer K
Thanks for getting back to me. I ticked Allow Tool Recoding. This only records encoded tool usage anot settings variables. I want to, for example, when using Blur tool I want to capture the dimension, strength, etc. Some tools do it some tools don't. And also, is there a reason that the Tool Preset Manager with brushes doesn't reveal the BrushTip image?

Thanks

Rob
