I am surprised this got through Beta testing and into a public release

Do you have Auto-Select Targeted Adjustment Tool enabled for Curves or Black &. White Adjustment Layers?

If so, uncheck it and see if that makes a difference.

Turning off Auto-Select Targeted Adjustment does stop Photoshop from instant crashing.

To me the code should be checking for this instead of doing a hard crash
