Adjustment Layer Preset Masks

Everytime I use a Adjustment Layer Preset a mask is created and usually not needed. Please allow Adjustment Layer Presets to have not automatically have a mask similar to how adjustment layers allow this.

    Correct answer S_Gans

The use of adjustment layers creating a group by default was created so that any adjustment preset (some of which may include several adjustment layers) can be edited and managed together. The mask (which is not blocking any part of the adjustment by default) is different - and I assume it was started because many people may not have known that a layer group could be masked (I really don’t know, but that’s my assumption).
However, it appears you’re seeking to have the option to turn off these “extras”. That would be a Feature Request I’d recommend creating one from the choices at the top of the main Photoshop Ecosystem page. Then, encourage anyone you know to upvote it. The Adobe developers address the requests with the most upvotes, first.

Below, I replied with a link to a Github Script - and I can’t delete it, so I’m reiterating here: https://github.com/ES-Collection/Photoshop-Scripts/blob/master/Delete%20All%20Masks.jsx

    I tested it - Photoshop 2026, MacOS 15.7.3 (Sequoia) ! It WORKS!!!

Demo here - just remember to select the layers on which you want to delete the masks

Are you asking about presets specifically, and having an option to control masks separately to Adjustment layer defaults?

I’m sure you know about this option:

Yes, I know about this. I have had that turned off for many years. I am referring to the presets tab to the left of the single adjustments. When I use a preset it always adds a mask even with that setting turned off. I have my own presets I use for color correction and I most often do not need a mask when using the presets nor do I need it grouped. It add unnecessary items to the layers panel (masks and groups) and I like to name my layers.
