Question

Adjustment Panel - Unable to keep docked or access

When I open Photoshop (Version 27.7) , the Adjustments panel disappears from my workspace’s docked panels. Also, when I try to open the panel from Window > Adjustments, nothing happens. The panel does not open, and no check mark appears next to Adjustments in the Window menu to indicate that it is active.

The Adjustments panel reappears when I reset the Essentials Workspace, but the Adjustment Panel disappears again after I close and reopen Photoshop. Currently, the only way to restore the Adjustments panel is to reset the Essentials Workspace each and every time I launch Photoshop.

This is not a great workaround because it requires re-customization of my workspace every time I open Photoshop. Could someone please help me resolve this issue?

    Hi @CosmoDog,

Thanks for reporting this. Could you first update to Photoshop 27.8, which was released today, and check whether the issue still occurs?

    • Open the Creative Cloud Desktop app

    • Click Check for Updates

    • Install Photoshop 27.8 if available

If the issue persists after updating, could you please share a short screen recording showing the Photoshop launch, the missing Adjustments panel, and Window > Adjustments not responding? Resetting Essentials, bringing it back.

    Also, a couple of questions:

    • Are you using multiple monitors? If you are using a laptop/MacBook, can you unplug the monitor and check?

    • If yes, does moving Photoshop back to the primary/main display make any difference?

    • Have you ever had the Adjustments panel docked on a secondary monitor?

If updating to 27.8 doesn’t help, the screen recording will help us determine whether we’re dealing with.

    Best,

Thanks for adding the video. Please make sure there are no stale preferences in your Photoshop. Go to the location of the preference folder below and rename it to backup.

    • Windows 10/11: Users/[user name]/AppData/Roaming/Adobe/Adobe Photoshop [version]/Adobe Photoshop [version] Settings

    • You can press Press the Windows key > Enter 'Run' > Enter %APPDATA%\Adobe

    • Rename the Adobe Photoshop folder by adding a .old at the end. (Adobe Photoshop 2026 > Rename > Adobe Photoshop 2026. old), You can restore these preferences later if needed.(https://adobe.ly/4860qM9)

    • Restart the computer.

These changes will provide a fresh start to Photoshop, much like a new installation.

    Thanks!
