Adobe bugs + support that can't resolve them = lost income. I lost nearly $300 today on a problem that appears to require a software fix. Lately it feels like we are the A/B testers for AI-generated code.

I've been using Adobe for over 20 years, and I've encountered more issues in the past year than I did in the previous decade combined. I can’t be the only one feeling this.

You posted this as a question, but it’s a bug. Can you repost this as a bug? The Photoshop team reads and tracks the bugs.

Include only one bug per post so the team and track it and others can comment, and be precise.

We can’t help with Illustrator; they have a separate forum. If you post to their forum, they can tell you if the linking issue is a known bug or if there is a workaround.

The Illustrator team, however, does not use the Community forums for bug reports like the Photoshop team does. Instead they use a platform called UserVoice.

There’s been multiple problems. I’ve had to contact support more times in the last year than I have in the last decade. The most recent is that curves has a glitch, I was on with customer support for almost 3 hours yesterday while they remote accessed my computer, redoing all the troubleshooting I did myself. I had to end the support because I had other projects I needed to complete that day. They said they would check their resources and get back to me, I still haven’t heard anything. What I adjust in curves doesn’t render to the file once I press “OK”. It it will show the adjustment if I do curves as an adjustment layer, but when I save out the file it reverts to the original again. I don’t get it, they didn’t get it either. I restarted my machine, photoshop, updated photoshop, reverted to an older version of photoshop, etc. Nothing worked.

There’s been numerous little glitches like that. the issue before that was/is links in Illustrator. Sometimes you can relink the file, sometimes I have to restart Illustrator to re-link a file. They weren’t able to find a solution to that either.

The issues are so random and niche you wouldn’t notice them util you go to do that very specific thing. The person remote accessing my machine seemed to not know their way around Photoshop either.

If you post the full Help > System Info, we might be able to spot the problem.

27.8 has been rock solid on my two machines, as have all previous versions.

Other than super random glitches with very random things, I would say the same thing. It’s not until I go to replace lots of links in Illustrator that the replace link button stops working, or when I got to do a curves adjustment in Photoshop to an image it decides to not do that adjustment. Luckily I was able to replicate the curves issue with customer support. With the links, it replaced the link the first time the support person came on my computer to help, so I figured I must have been messing it up. Later that day I went to replace some links, the first 3 it did fine, then the button just stopped working again, (I didn’t have time to spend another 45 mins trying to explain the issue all over again) so it’s frustrating when you have 15 links to replace one by one because Adobe decided we didn’t need that option anymore in Illustrator. So I have to restart Illustrator once it fills it’s replace link quota. Those are just the most recent, there have been other random things.

I would think these random niche things would be figured out with proper A/B testing.

You’re not wrong. We need a super thread about Adobe programming slop and new bugs that are introduced with new versions. For me, off the top of my head in the last year, actions that don’t record properly, selective color completely changed how it behaves which totally messed with our work flow, droplets breaking repeatedly, image size defaulting to pixels, which was supposedly fixed, then not fixed. Same with the actions bug. LR supposedly added new native camera support for tethering our medium format Fuji, only to find out, nope, it breaks stuff. So freeze that version to 13.5.1. Degradations in healing brush tool that look AI related, and lots of little changes to default behavior for “save as” and other things that require overrides or turning them off in preferences.

The decline in quality and reliability is real, and multiply that by six computers for us, mac and PC, and it’s a new thing to keep fixing all the time. It’s not a toy. It’s a production tool. I have one machine that’s stuck on 25.12.3 because the MAC OS can’t be updated on that machine or it won’t support new version of PS. And honestly, it’s becoming my favorite to do a lot of work on. It just works. There are no surprises and I don’t want to touch it.
