adobe camera raw filter

In the newest of photoshop (creative cloud version) my "adobe camera raw" filter does not function as it did in previous versions, and i notice that

the "profiles" have changed, which may be related.  With profiles set on "color" the exposure slider has virtually no flexibility, immediately showing hotspots and not functioning to lighten or darken the image overall.  How can i access the older version of this filter?

James, make sure you are running the most recent versions:

Photoshop for the desktop: 26.4.2

ACR: 17.2

Are you working on NEF or JPEG?

When I open a NEF in ACR and move the Exposure slider left (darker, -5.0) and right (lighter, +5.0),  the image goes from extremely dark to blown out as the slider has always worked.

Hold on... I just noticed that the Profile defaulted to "Color" -- just "Color" the first time I opened a NEF.

When I opened another NEF, the Profile was "Camera Flat" with no sign of "Color."

Now I'm wondering where that default is stored.

Hi @jamespabbott! Welcome to the community!

Which profile are you using? Do you mean the Adobe Color profile or the Adaptive Color profile? The exposure slider seems to work normally for me. Could you go into more detail about what you mean? Screenshots or a screen recording showing your workflow would be really helpful too.

Thank you!
