Hi, I'm Patrice. I am a beginner in photography and in the use of Photoshop.

Here is a picture of a dish taken at the L'Européen brasserie in Paris.

I used a Samsung smartphone and would like to know if any improvements can be made in this photo and how to go about it.

Thank you for your help.

These edits were done in the Camera Raw filter.

The image is flat, and has a red cast.

To correct the red cast, I set Temperature to -22 and Tint to -6.

To expand the tonal range, I set Whites to + 50.

Finally, I set Saturation to +30 and Clarity to +20 to give the image a bit more punch.

The jpg format uses destructive compression in order to create small files, and repeated saving will reduce image quality. (your image has already been saved once by the phone)

To prevent any further destruction of the image, save it as a 16-bit Tiff (or PSD) before doing any editing.

This will be your new master image, and you can export jpgs from that when needed.
