Anyone else getting random crashes after the latest Photoshop update? 🤔

Hey everyone,
I just installed the latest Photoshop update today — it’s literally the only new change on my system — and I’ve already had two full-on computer crashes within a few hours. 😅

The strange part? The new AI tools feel noticeably smoother and faster, which makes it even harder to tell what’s causing the issue.

Has anyone else experienced sudden system crashes or instability after updating? Could it be related to the new AI enhancements or something else entirely?

Would love to hear if others are seeing the same thing or if it’s just me!

No. I don't have crashes after updating Photoshop. It runs fine without any problems (except for the problem with the neural filters).

What is crashing on your system? Only Photoshop or the whole system?

Do you get any error messages? If yes, please post the message(s) word-by-word here.

As a first step try to reset the preferences of Photoshop using the steps described here:

https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/using/preferences.html#reset-preferences

It's recommended to backup your settings before resetting the preferences.

See here:  https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/using/preferences.html#backup-photoshop-preferences

Is your system up-to-date? Do you have installed all recent updates and patches for the operating system and the device drivers, especially the graphic driver. If you have a NVidia graphic card installed, make sure that you are using the recent Studio version of the driver, not the Game Ready version.

Please provide a copy of your 'System Info'. This can be get from the Photoshop menu item Help > System Info. There's a copy button in the System Info dialog. Press this button and paste the info into your next forum post.

When a new version introduces crashing/freezing that wasn't there before, there are two likely explanations:

  • new graphics code in combination with an older/underpowered/badly configured GPU. If you post the full Help > System Info, it lists detailed GPU information.
  • migrated preferences from the old version. Preferences are prone to corruption because they are rewritten on every application exit, and errors will accumulate. Settings may not have exactly the same meaning in the new version. Preferences contain more than your own user settings; it's the whole application configuration, including hidden and system-dependent parameters.
