Question

AVX and AVX2

I recently installed Adobe CC on my computer. I am now getting the following error message:

Could not open picture.jpg because your computer does not provide the required AVX and AVX2 instruction sets

What can i do to fix this?

Thanks!

Rainer22446617rg40,

Seems that from your System Info posted that the Adobe software in question is Photoshop Elements 2027. Is that correct?

That would also explain how you got it to install since Adobe will flag a non AVX2 system as incompatible when trying to install the latest Photoshop 2026 and won’t do the install.

Here are the system requirements for Photoshop Elements 2027:

Hi @Rainer22446617rg40,

Thanks for sharing your system information. I checked it, and your computer is using an AMD FX-8300 processor.

The FX-8300 supports AVX but not AVX2. Current versions of Photoshop require a processor with AVX2 support, which explains the message you’re seeing when trying to open an image.

Unfortunately, AVX2 is a hardware capability of the processor, so it cannot be added through a Windows update, driver update, or Photoshop setting.

To use the current version of Photoshop, you would need a system with a processor that supports AVX2.

Best,
