Background layer not locked on import from ACR

This issue just started today, and never happened in the last 12 years.  When I open a RAW file from ACR to Photoshop, the layer is unlocked when it hits Photoshop.  Is there an option to make the layer locked automatically when it goes into Photoshop?  I looked but couldn't find anything...and I did try uninstalling  re-installing.   Running Windows 11

Thanks!

OK, I FIXED IT!!!  The new AI features box in ACR was checked, when I unchecked it, it restored the previous layout of ACR, which for some reason, exports as a locked background layer.  Weird, but I'll take it...thanks guys!

So my understanding is, if the layer contains transparency it can't be opened as a background layer.  Why are my images all of a sudden exporting Camera Raw with transparency?  I didn't see anything in the ACR settings to export without transparency.  This happened before, and I switched from 16 bit to 8 bit and that fixed it, but not now.

Less common... There is also a default event script to convert a flattened image to a layer on open event trigger. Look in File > Scripts > Script Events Manager

The Script Events Manager was unchecked, and when I check the box, it says no events were scheduled.  When I check 'open layer', it says 'open as layer .jsx', but the layer is still unlocked.

Is the layer a Smart Object by chance?

Look in the ACR Preferences>Workflow>Photoshop and see if Open in Photoshop as Smart Object is checked.

(in Photoshop go to Edit>Preferences>Camera Raw)

No, it isn't opening as a smart object
