Black screen with Remove Tool and Generative Fill on RTX 5070 (Solved with 'More Stable' mode)
Hello Adobe Team,
I would like to report a black screen bug that occurs in Photoshop when using an NVIDIA RTX 5070 graphics card.
System Information:
Photoshop Version: in Photoshop Beta (26.8/26.9) and Photoshop (26.8/26.8.1)
Operating System: Windows 11 Pro 24H2
Graphics Card (GPU): NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070
NVIDIA Driver Version: in 576.52 and 576.80
Bug Description: The issue occurs in two specific situations:
When using the Remove Tool. After painting over an area and releasing the mouse button, the screen turns black for a moment.
After generating a Generative Fill, when clicking on one of the variations to improve its detail, the screen also turns black.
Steps to Reproduce the Bug:
Ensure that in Edit > Preferences > Image Processing, the "Remove Tool Processing" option is set to "Faster".
Open an image and use the Remove Tool on any element.
Upon releasing the mouse for Photoshop to process the removal, the screen momentarily turns black.
Workaround Found: The bug is completely resolved by changing the Remove Tool's setting to "More Stable" in Edit > Preferences > Image Processing. This suggests the issue lies with the GPU's high-performance processing mode.
I hope this information is helpful for investigating and resolving this instability with the new NVIDIA 50-series cards.
Thank you and best regards.
