Blank box when trying to save

I am working on a Mac running Sonoma 14.1.2. I can not save a file. When trying to save the box pops up but it is blank. I can't save anything. Please advise

Does the Save As-dialog work as expected in other applications? 

 

What have you done for all-purpose trouble-shooting so far?
Restoring Preferences after making sure all customized presets like Actions, Patterns, Brushes etc. have been saved might be a good starting point:
