Bought a new iMac. How to get my CS6 on it?

Greetings. I just purchased a new iMac which has no CD drive, so I was wondering how I'd go about getting my Photoshop CS6 program on it (I purchased it in 2012 way back when apps were sold on disks). I'm guessing I could go out and buy a CD drive but I was wondering if Adobe allows PS owners to download the program from their site.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks very much.

Thanks again. I guess the 19.99 a month was for a CC subscription. I’ll sign up for the 10.00 Photoshop plan and get the upgrades.

it's interesting that some people find it OK to buy a new iMac but seem to resent paying for software to use on it!

If you buy and new home do you expect to have to but all new furniture or do you expect you old purchased furniture will still work in it. Its the way Apple maintains the OS. Apple requires developers to change the wan they program for new mac and mobile existing will not work OSX IOS.

Thanks very much for the responses. i just read numerous things online saying my original version of Photoshop CS6 may not be compatible with Apple’s new OS (High Sierra) and I may have no choice but to get it in a cloud and have to pay a monthly fee for the use of it. When I bought Photoshop 5 years ago for almost 600.00 I had no idea I was paying for something that would only Last me 5 years unless I pay Adobe 20 bucks a month to use it.

Thanks again for for your help.

5 years in software is like 70 years in cars. Are you running a 70 year old car? And would the maker fix it for you?

Adobe would issue upgrades to Photoshop about every 2 years. If Apple changed the system (or you bought  new camera, screen or other hardware) you’d probably have to upgrade to the latest. Your license was for life but Adobe expected to be paid for work to keep things running, just as much as work for new features. Just how it is: people expect to be paid for work. A subscription, from $10 per month, includes all these upgrades. And the pace of change has gone through the roof in the last few years.

So on Mac programs degrade rapidly one year on a mac is like having a 14 year old car so my 1990 300xz 28 years on the road would be like a 640 year on a mac. Mac degrade to fast software on a mac is too soft life is too short.  Apple planned it that way. My 9 year old canon 1d mk 4 still works almost like new.  I can still run CS2 on my 5 year old Dell workstation and my new Dell workstation with PC you can choose a good maker and Microsoft does compatibility better than Apple.  Like with cars you get a more value for you money. Still Apple just spent  5 big ones to build a new campus their plan seems to be working.
