Brush size shortcut not working

I tried using the command + option + left click to adjust my brush size with the brush tool selected and the correct layer mask I wanted but it keeps bringing up the eye dropper tool and every shortcut option I try from google is not working and I don't have anything open in this desktop other than photoshop so I'm not sure why this is happening. any help is appreciated, thanks.
