Brush switches to eraser automatically

I use a general hard brush to draw and for the eraser I use a general hard brush as well. After some time the brush switches automatically to the eraser tool. I press "b" to switch back to the brush. As soon as my pen touches the Cintiq 22 inch it switches back to the eraser. I switch to another brush and the problem remains. If I save and restart PS the problem is gone. But it eventually comes back ...

THANK YOU! this bug has been plaguing me for years now and I just now found this. And it’s not even a bug. what a weird unfortunate feature, what possible use could it have?

@ttpete Please take five minutes and give it a try. It’s quite a time saver.

i.e. You are using the brush tool and want to erase something. Hold down the E key and keep it held while you do that erase, and then release the E key and you are back with the Brush tool. Thinking about it, (I often think people answer questions here without considering context) spring loaded shortcuts’ usefulness would depend on how you use Photoshop. Illustration would be a good case, and simple Photo editing, not so much so.
