BSOD crash while using the Remove Tool, Intel i9 13900K
TL;DR: Photoshop started closing unexpectedly or crashing Windows (BSOD, CLOCK_WATCHDOG_TIMEOUT). Intel replaced my CPU (Intel, 13900K) under warranty. It works fine now.
Just in case anyone of you start experiencing strange issues while using the Remove Tool, like: Photoshop crashes, Windows crashes with BSOD (Blue screen of death), the system is frozen for a second and then it unfreezes, etc. Run AVX2 benchmark from the Intel Extreme Tuning Utility, and let it undisturbed for about an hour. If it fails or crashes the system you might have a faulty CPU.
The Remove Tool most probably uses AVX2 instruction set to do its AI magic. On my system everything worked fine... until one day, when I used the Remove Tool my system crashed. Then the issue happened with various frequencies. Sometimes everything was fine for several hours. Sometimes a crash was immediate after the first stroke of the Remove Tool.
In may case, disabling half of the E-cores in BIOS helped. But I decided to try to have my CPU replaced under warranty.
Apparently there might be a bad batch of 13900K CPUs: https://www.reddit.com/r/intel/comments/12bybl5/something_wrong_with_13900k/
Beware.
