Can I change a feature in the layers window?

Hi

Is there any way I can change a feature in the layers window? I keep hitting the unlink symbol, when all I need is activating that specific layer. So when I need a specific layer I end up unlinking the mask in stead, and then I continue working in the previous layer, that I intended to leave. It happens numerous times a day, to an extend that it frustrates me! Is it possible for me to change that feature, it could be linking and unlinking a mask on a layer by for example using command/option/ctrl whilst clicking on the unlink symbol
Current Photoshop is CC2025 and system is Mac Sequoia 15.5, if that is relevant
Thank you so much!!

Hey, @birgitte_0689. Welcome to the Photoshop Community.

It is currently not possible to customize this core behavior. However, you can try changing the resize or the Layers panel to create more space and avoid misclicking.

Thanks!
