Hi.

I'm considering to buy a used asus laptop. I don't know the model, but here are the specifications:

Intel i7

8 Gb ram

500 Gb ssd

So can i use the latop for photoshop, or even premiere pro?

While 8GB RAM is a bit on the low side, it will work as long as you have enough free disk space.

But you omitted the most critical component, the GPU. Not because Photoshop requires huge computing power or speed from the GPU, but because it needs to satisfy a certain minimum standard for everything to work correctly. Integrated Intel GPUs may not be up to it.

A particular problem is laptops with dual GPUs. It sounds like a good idea on paper. But Photoshop uses the GPU for actual data processing, and the result returned to Photoshop for further processing. GPU switching can simply not happen, and conflicting drivers will regularly crash.

So i should look for a laptop with more than 8 gb ram, a good ssd, with some powerful graphics?

As much RAM as possible but you don't have to go out of your way if the rest of the system has the moxie. (e.g., A good SSD.)

Check out steps 7 and 8 of the official help for info on multiple GPUs and what to do if you have problems:
