Can no longer create layers from effect applied to the layer

Used to be able to click on a layer effect applied to the layer & create layers from the effect. I am now getting an error message when I try to do this. Layer is NOT a smart object & isn’t locked. Running PS version 26.11.0

    No problem here either. Windows 11

     

    IME It’s the sort of glitch that restarting your computer is likely to fix.

    I tried this on my end but wasn’t able to reproduce the issue. When you get a chance, please update to the latest version of Photoshop and let us know if the behavior continues. If it does, does it only happen with a specific layer effect, or do you see it with any effect you try? It would also help to know which version of macOS you’re running, along with your Photoshop System Info.
    You can find it in Photoshop under Help > System Info. Just copy everything into a text file and attach it here, or share it with us through Google Drive, WeTransfer, or any file sharing platform you prefer.
