Can photoshop be used to turn an image into a stencil?

Question

Suppose you have a simple image of an object like a teapot.  You would like to be able to use this image to create several stencils: one of the bowl and spout, another of the lid, and a third of the handle.  What steps would you take within Photoshop in order to turn your image into three such stencils?

​@Trainer1, here’s one way.Remove the background around the teapot.Select and mask each element. Adjust the selection as needed.Output toa new layer with layer mask.Refine the mask as needed.Go to Image > Adjustments > Threshold and adjust the slider until the image displays full black (or whatever you need for your design)
