Can't actually run a pre-existing action through a new action since the new action window has been redesigned

Can't actually run a pre-existing action through a new action since the new action window has been redesigned - it used to work perfectly. In our specific case we have a multi layered high pass action that we want to run through our batch of about 500 images, but we also want this action to go through after we have reframed and cropped the files. In the old versions we could simply record a new action and then run through the recording of the new action that other high pass action.

In the new version you can actually create a new action and tell it to have another one run through it, although when comes the time to run the action, this other other that you want to “play” through this new one will not go through, you get a window that tells you the action cannot run within the action. It’s hard to explain clearly I guess it’s a very concrete and specific situation.

It’s one of these things where these new action windows look “cooler” but they are deeply flawed in how they were redesigned. We have to spend considerable energy and time just to chill down from how significantly annoyed we are from this issue. How could one ever justify changing something that worked fine for something that doesn’t

Open the fly-out menu in the panel, and click “Classic Actions”. This immediately reverts to the old interface.

I’m pretty certain nested actions will work with the new interface also, but I haven’t time to check now.

Yes indeed I did see this option to have the “classic” action window. While this is more “convienient”, it still does not work. The same thing happens litterally; if I do create a new action and if within this new action I include another action, the new action will stop and send an error message as soon as it gets to the point it has to process the “included” action…like I mentionned earlier it kind of complicated to explain but it’s clearly a problem…

Haha non I restarted PS + machine and same thing still not working… yeah hopefully maybe the “ancients” might see this through… so hard to believe nobody else has had this problem - I thought running actions through actions was such a “communication" thing…! Thanks for your help anyways!

I just tried what you suggested - nothing changed though. Thank you anyways for your suggestion...

Restarted Ps and even your machine??

I’m out of ideas. The ancients who dwell these pages will arise soon to help...

I assume you’ve uncheck the box, Enable Modern User Interface in Preferences>Technology Previews?

I may be totally wrong, but it’s worth looking into.

Also look at the “hamburger” menu in Actions -- uncheck Actions, check Classic Actions.
