can't create stamp layer when using Shift+Ctrl/Cmd+Alt+E

Hi all,

I am not able to create a stamp layer when using Shift+Cmd+Alt+E

Does someone knows how to get this function back?

I have MacBook Pro on Mojave. The very last version of photoshop as well.

Hi all, please don't berate me when I tell you what i discovered the reason was as to why I wasn't able to create the stamp layer.

Now after reseting photoshop prior to this problem, in the keyboard shortcut menu panel I had uploaded saved keyboard shortcut preset I had created in times past, and I have discovered when switching between that one and the photoshop default keyboard shortcuts, that stamp layer shortcut was not working in the one I have created. I think I had assigned default photoshop stamp layer shortcut for another function, and forgot about it.

So now I'm back at the default photoshop keyboard functionality and the stamp layer shortcut works fine of course.

So the problem is solved. Still thanks for all of your prompt reply to my post. Its real community here. Very much appreciated.

Hi all, I have to stay that I still have the same problem which I have described in the first thread of this page.

Whats appears to be happening is that each time I create a new keyboard shortcut preset (in keyboard shortcuts and menus panel), I am able to use a stamp layer shortcut for some time, but then after few weeks of using the photoshop, suddenly the stamp layer keyboard shortcut just won't work. So I have 3 keyboard shortcut presets I have created so far.

Every time stamp layer shortcut stopped working I have created the new Keyboard preset, thinking it would resolve the issue. And which it did but only temporarily.

If however i go to Photoshop Defaults (in keyboard shortcuts and menus panel) I am able to use stamp layer there without any problem. But NOT in the keyboard presets I create.

Guys, does anyone know what is happening here and or how to fix this issue??

If you change shortcut keys and you also switch between Workspaces Make sure you you have not saved keyboard shortcuts with you workspace. Otherwise when you change shortcuts you have to  Re-save yoy workspaces with saved shortcuts.

Switch to a workspace. Reset the Workspace then re-save the Workspace and make sure  the Keyboard shortcut are not saved for the workspace.   Do not have different Keyboard setting for some particular workspace  Always use the shames shortcuts for all workspaces.

      Hi

      Check to confirm that all layers are visible before you press Press Shift+Command+Option+E.

      Does it work when you hold down Option and select Merge Visible Layers from the panel menu?

      Are you starting on a visible layer? If  not, add a blank layer at the top of your layer stack, make sure the visibility is on, select it, then do the KBSC.

          Hi dragantomas:

          It is still working for me on Mojave and Photoshop 2019.

          But, this shortcut is based on the shortcut for Layers > Merge Visible. Check to see if that was change to something other than Sh Cmd E. If you change that shortcut to say, Sh Cmd Y, then Cmd Sh Opt Y will be the shortcut to stamp.

            Possible Solution: Install the Photoshop CC 2019 v20.0.1 update. Workaround: If that doesn't solve your issue, turn on the Legacy Compositing option in Performance preferences. Choose Edit > Preferences > Performance (Windows) or Photoshop > Preferences > Performance (macOS). Select Legacy Compositing.
