Can't open files from Camera Raw--new problem

I'm using Camera Raw 13.1 with Photoshop 22.1.1. and have encountered a problem I've not seen before.  When I double-click a JPEG ot TIFF image in Adobe Bridge, the file opens in Camera Raw as it always has in the past, but now the "Open" button at bottom right of the window is greyed out and unavailable. "Cancel" and "Done" are both available, however.

I've found a workaround, although it's clumsy and not ideal:  if in Bridge I highlight the image thumbnail then choose File > Open With > Adobe Photoshop 2021 (default), then the file opens in Camera Raw and the "Open" button is now available and the image does open in Photoshop.  The drawback is that any adjustments I make to the image while it's open in Camera Raw become part of the original image even if I save it from Photoshop with a different name.  The only way I've found to save the new image and preserve the original unchanged is make the changes in Camera Raw, then right-click the image and choose "Save File" and give it a new name, and finally click "Cancel" in Camera Raw.  Clicking "Done" doesn't work because in that case the edited changes appear in both the newly saved file and the original image.

This workaround is thus a royal pain!  Has anyone else had this problem and, more importantly, found a solution?

Thanks,

Robert Arnold

A quick follow-up.  I find that the problem occurs only with Adobe Bridge; if I double-click on the file in File Explorer, it opens in Camera Raw and the "Open" button is immediately available.

I am having the same issue. The 'Open' is grey'ed out when I double-click the file from within Bridge.

If I use File Explorer and open the file in Photoshop, it opens in ACR, but the Open button is now available.

Any ideas how to fix this in Bridge?

Hi there! It looks like you’re commenting on an older thread. I’d suggest creating a new one for better visibility in the future.

Could you share an example of what you’re seeing on your end and let me know which version of Bridge and operating system you’re using?

Thanks,

Shivani
