Can't use 3D in Photoshop CC

I've been trying to use 3D in Photoshop with either a Smart object or text converted to a shape but the 3D options are all grey'd out. Is there a preference I don't have setup properly? My computer is a MacBook Pro w/Retina display and 16gb of ram.

@nicolea69849394 things have moved on now. 3D functionality has been removed from Photoshop. If you need it to work on old files then you can download v22.2 which is the last version recommended by Adobe for 3D.

Why not use Adobe dimensions? It's much faster and powerful than 3D Features in Photoshop, plus you can edit in Photoshop as well!

Looks like you have dual GPU's, Photoshop doesn't play well with that setup, take a look here especially sections 7 and 8

Troubleshoot Photoshop graphics processor (GPU) and graphics driver issues

Also what color mode are you working in, perhaps if you posted a screenshot with all the relevant panels opened it may help us to help you

I don't use a Mac so can't do a direct comparison. At first glance system info looks to be OK (open GL enabled, one GPU, sufficient VRAM). Is your document in RGB color mode?

I am also having problems, cannot edit a PS 3D file I made a little while back. Need a solution, fast! Also the graphics processor options in preferences is grayed out as well! says 'unable to detect information'

..OK, I FOUND THE SOLUTION FOR ME.

1. Check system preferences, CUDA driver needed an update.

2. Enable OpenGL under performance settings in Ps.

3. Adjust available RAM as needed under 3D preferences in Ps.

I am now able to update the Illustration.

From a user perspective, it would be great if Ps would put up an error stating that OpenGL is not available when trying to edit existing or create new 3D.

I am also having problems with the 3D functions not working, they are grayed out in Photoshop CC 2018 9subscription). I also have CC 2015 and CC2015.5 and all three the 3D options are grayed out and not working. The odd thing is I remember using the 3D functions sometime last year, I'm not a heavy user I only use the 3d function to extrude text, however, I have a project to do and none of the three photoshop applications will allow me to use the 3D options.
