Hi @Torres Fine Art, thanks for reaching out to the Photoshop Community Forum! This error is a known startup issue, often triggered after a Windows update. Let's try a few things and see if it helps:

  • Fully close PS (Task Manager), restart your computer, and relaunch.

  • Update Photoshop to the latest version via Creative Cloud.

  • Reset preferences: hold Ctrl+Alt+Shift while launching PS.

  • If it started after a Windows update, try uninstalling the latest patch.

If you're still experiencing this issue, can you send your system info, a screen recording of the issue, and a numbered list of the exact steps needed to replicate it? You can find your system info by going to Help > System Info, copying and pasting it into a text file, and attaching it here. Thanks! ^CH

Cannot open PS current version message says "Catch in IPhotoshopApplication, exception encountered: require fed"    Your help would be much appeciated as I use PS 2024 with updates regularly and am lost without it.   My monthly payments are up to date .

This happened yesterday around the 12th February 2026 on my PC after an overnight update of Windows 11.  I’ve tried “system restore” but to no avail.

This was posted in 2024, it's a year later and same thing is happening to me. Brand new computer well-equipped to handle Photoshop but still getting "Catch in IPhotoshop Application, exception encountered". Then Photoshop won't open, have to restart computer. What the heck is this Adobe???

Hi @KimberlyPek!

Could you please let me know what version of Photoshop and operating system you're using? Also, when did the error start occurring—was it after an update?

Thanks a bunch!

Best, Alek 😊

@Aleke   I just had the same error message, and it was immediately after a Windows 11 update.

This is the Learn More Link

In my case, simply restarting Photoshop (26.6 m.3014) seems to have cleared the warning dialog.  If this tally's with other people's experience, then it might be useful to say so here.  Check Windows Update History if you are not sure.   26.4.1 Release, and 22.2 also open without any error messages.

I am alos having the same problem! I tried to start today and got the error, so then I updated to the newest version and still have the issue. Guess I will keep looking.
