Cannot Save As/Export as GIF from Photoshop on macOS

So I have about 332 frames in Photoshop timeline. 

 

I cannot save this as a gif. 

 

I've tried simply 'save as' and choosing gif. But gif is not an option. The only reason I see online why this could be is that the color mode is wrong. It's not, its RGB. 

 

I've tried to 'export as'. Gif is an option but it only exports one frame. I can highlight all frames in the timeline and export, what have you, no matter what only one layer is present when I export normally. 

 

I've tried 'save for web (legacy)' - this gives me an error that is unknown. So I updated my Photoshop from 22 to 23, thinking thats the issue. But now I get an error that I don't have memory available. I went to preferences > scratch disks and checked my external hard drive, which has 825GB available. 

 

I'm going crazy. I just want a gif.

There is GIF89 and GIF89a - the a is for animation, people often just associate gif with animation but that is not the case. You can get a GIF, you just want the animated kind.

 

Currently the Export > Save for Web (Legacy) is the only method that I know of in Photoshop to create a GIF89a.

 

What is the canvas size of the 332 frames? Are you in 8bpc channel mode?

Hi,

 

We're sorry about the trouble with Photoshop while trying to save a GIF. Would you mind telling us which macOS version are you working on? Are you working on an 8-bit file or a 16/32-bit file?

 

If you're working with an 8-bit file, try using the option to Save a copy from the file menu to check if you're able to see an option to save a GIF.

 

For the error you're getting while trying to use Save for web, you can try to reset the preferences of Photoshop using the steps mentioned here: https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/using/preferences.html#reset_preferences
