Canon 5D mark IV RAW files

As they start shipping this camera today (and I had one on pre-order) I hope Photoshop will be able to handle the RAW files. Can anyone confirm that this is the case and if not how long will it take before we receive the update?

It is available for PS and CC, if you can't update through PS, use the link further down on the link that I provided for the manual install.

will Photoshop/LR just straight up not read the RAW files from the 5D IV? or will LR possibly be able to open the files but it may be a little wonky until an update? I've never bought a camera this early before so I'm not sure what to expect.

it sounds like my best bet for now is DPP I guess.

Why a guess? The DPP that comes with your 5D Mk IV will process Canons RAW files.  ACR and LR Will not be able to Process 5D Mk IV till Adobe supports that Camera.

I wasn't literally guessing ha. Just meant more like "hmm if I have to use DPP!"

I don't want to use DPP as my entire workflow is in LR but I guess that's the folly of an early adopter. I did read though that the 80D was supported in LR before the camera was even available.

Henk Tobbe what version of Adobe Photoshop are you using? The Plugin Camera Raw will be a solution!

I always have the latest Photoshop/Camera RAW as I subscribe and updates are loaded automatically. Just wondering when Adobe is going to catch up with Canon. I know DPP (that comes with the body) will do the trick but I don't like DDP very much. Rather use Photoshop/Camera RAW for post processing.

Even with the expected update of Camera RAW i think we won't get the "Dual Pixel" processing built in for a while....

Just wondering when Adobe is going to catch up with Canon.

I suspect there are thousands of other Canon customers wondering the same.

Adobe will probably get the Mark IV specs around the same time as you get the camera so they can understand the Mark IV Raw file format.

Watch this space (and the Adobe website) is the best this forum can offer you.

    Not yet.

It'll probably be in the next Camera Raw update.

Use the Canon DPP software in the meantime.

I do  not see EOS 5D MK IV listed as supported yet. https://helpx.adobe.com/camera-raw/kb/camera-raw-plug-supported-cameras.html

Yes, it is not supported. And I am very confused. For this camera we wait four years and there is no support from adobe.

The thing is... Camera manufacturers refuse to work with third parties to support raw files. Therefore, Adobe can't work on support for a new camera until they get their hands on one.
