Question

Canvas jumping off screen in Photoshop iOS

Canvas keeps jumping off screen every time I’m using the text tool and switch switch from one text layer to another.

First time I select a text layer it’s fine. It’s when I move to the next text layer to edit is when it happens. Have to zoom out and drag the canvas back down to where I can see it. Makes the app basically unusable.

I have videos of this happening but unable to post here.

    Hi Shristi!

I’ve tried all the things you have bullet pointed here. This happens in ALL documents.

    1. Tapping with two fingers doesn’t do anything ad the canvas is off the workspace completely. Even when I drag the canvas down and use 2 fingers it doesn’t center.

    1. Force quitting does not work
    2. Toggling shortcut does nothing.
    3. It’s not a pencil thing as this happens when I use my finger. However, I did try your suggestion.
    4. I’ve tried a new document. Same thing.
    5. I’ve also offloaded the app and then completely deleted it and the problem still persists.

    I’m at a loss!

    Hi @NashvilleNewman2

Thanks for flagging this, and apologies for the inconvenience. There could be several reasons behind such unexpected behaviors. To help us investigate further, could you please share a few more details:

    • Photoshop for iPad version (App Settings > About)
    • Whether this happens in all documents or only specific ones?

In the meantime, here are a few things that have helped in similar cases on iPad:

    • Reset the canvas position
Switch to the Move tool, then double-tap the canvas with two fingers to recenter it.
Note: This gesture doesn’t work while the Text tool is active.
    • Force quit and restart Photoshop
Open the App Switcher, swipe Photoshop up to quit, then relaunch it.
    • Check Touch Shortcut settings
Go to App Settings > Input > Touch Shortcut and try toggling it on/off.
    • Review Apple Pencil double-tap behavior
In App Settings > Input > Double Tap, check if it’s assigned to a canvas action like “Zoom to Fit.” Setting it to Off (or another action) may help.
    • Test in a new document
Create a new file and try similar actions. If the issue doesn’t occur, it may be file-specific.
    • Reinstall Photoshop for iPad
If the issue continues, reinstalling the app can help. Cloud documents will resync after you sign back in.

If none of these steps resolve the issue, a short screen recording would be very helpful for us to better understand what’s happening.

    Looking forward to your response!

Each time I select a different text box layer the canvas jumps up and off screen forcing me to pinch and zoom in (so I can actually see the canvas) then I have to drag the canvas  (and resize to 100%) so it fits in the workspace. This makes the app essentially unusable since I’m having to do this each time I select a different text box.
