I have an image that is 23.472 in x 17.611 in, 72ppi.  I wanto crop the image and have a resolution of 300 ppi for the cropped section.   do i increase the resolution, decreasing the size of the image, first or do I crop first?

Without more information, I would play it safe by simply cropping with the resolution field blank. This way only the crop is performed without any resampling/interpolation of new pixels. Then you can make an informed decision based on the cropped/original pixel dimensions for the intended output.

I know demo the resolution of the original I will have to increase the resolution for the outpot I want. I have come across Super Resolution in Adone and that should do the trick.

Yes, there are many alternative resizing options if you don't resample the original pixels when cropping.

You can do it all in a single step if you set the Crop tool to "W x H x Resolution" and then enter a ppi resolution.

Hi @7250343,

Thanks for reaching out! I think either way is fine. Could you please share a few more details so we can guide you better?

  • What’s your intended output for the cropped image — are you preparing it for print or web/digital use?

  • Do you want to maintain the same visual dimensions after increasing the resolution, or are you okay if the image size changes?

Once we have these details, we can suggest the best workflow for your case.

Regards,

Srishti
