What Colin does is this:

  • Create a SO of the first butterfly
  • Duplicate the SO several times and scale, rotate and flip the duplicates
  • Edit the first SO (which is a PSB) and add a hue adjustment layer, then change the color
  • (optional: click the PSD to see no changes were made, then return to the PSB)
  • Save the PSB and close it to return to the PSD
  • See that all linked SOs update

What doesn't work for you? Where did you get stuck?

A screenshot that includes your entire interface and the Layers panel will help us to help you.

My file does not open in the PSB format, only in PNG format.

Time 8.33 in the video.

1. PNGs do not support layers. Save as a PSD, as Colin does.

2. You did not make a SO and you did not duplicate the SO.

3. You did not double-click the SO to go into edit mode for the PSB.

4. I asked for this: "A screenshot that includes your entire interface and the Layers panel".

Your screenshot does not show the entire interface or the Layer's panel

Please try again Maha! You might also want to watch Colin's video again, as you skipped several steps.
