Question

Changing brush size deletes layers

Frequently:

  • When Editing a file with layers (which all my files have)
  • I select  the clone stamp tool
  • Press the right bracket "]" to make the brush larger
  • PS deletes two layers

Luckily, History records the deletion and I can select the step just prior to the deletions and I'm back in business. I saw the same behavior in the new beta.

Please read this (in particular the section titled "Supply pertinent information for more timely and effective answers”):

What have you done for all-purpose trouble-shooting so far?
Restoring Preferences after making sure all customized presets like Actions, Patterns, Brushes etc. have been saved might be a good starting point:

Photoshop version 25.6.0
Windows 11
English

I tried to reboot the computer, tried to reboot the program itself, checked all the hotkeys to make sure I didnt mess something up by accident. All my preferences are set to default.

Since the Backspace key is so close to the right bracket, perhaps your inadvertently hitting the Backspace key as well?

I don't think so but I'll keep an eye on it. Thanks.

I cannot replicate the issue on Windows with Photoshop version 25.7. What version of Photoshop are you using? It's possible that your input language is not set to English.

Oops, I missed your response, sorry.

Thanks for your reply!

But what language version?

And what is the keyboard/OS language?
