Charged for AI generation now?

So I just hopped on Photoshop for some generative fill work, and it popped up with the notice about credit usage. Am I to assume here that Photoshop just threw in a credit system for an already monthly subscribed product, which isn't cheap to begin with and on top of that, their AI tools are drastically weaker (I still thought they were in BETA tbh) than most out there - in terms of paid ones.  Disappointing to say the least.

Hi @aaran_9908! Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. We completely understand the frustration when a workflow you’ve grown accustomed to changes, especially regarding a subscription you already invest in. I'll try to make this clearer. The introduction of Generative Credits is a reflection of the significant computational costs required to run these AI models on our servers. By using a credit-based system, we can continue to offer these high-compute features without significantly increasing the base monthly price of the Creative Cloud subscription for all users.

To know what happens after you use all the available credits on your plan, please check out this part of the FAQ on Generative Credits: https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/apps/generative-ai/generative-credits-faq.html#generative-credits-used:~:text=What%20happens%20if%20I%20use%20all%20my%20generative%20credits%3F%E2%80%AFGenerative credits FAQ
