Clipping mask issues

Good evening redditors. I'm currently in the process of making a dragon for a quick turnaround shirt, and I have text and I'm placing high res pics on text. When I right click and select clipping mask, the letter I'm trying to clip the pick into, is the only thing visible. The picture that I placed, disappears?

Would someone please help.

Do you have the image layer above the text?

If you move the image layer, do you see that reflected on the text?

If you show us a screen shot of your workspace with the document window and layers panel visible with the image layer selected, I expect it will be obvious.
