Clone and Healing tool layer not working when sampling.

Question

When I try using the clone stamp or healing tool, once I click to sample the layer becomes inactive. It's set to sample all layers. Tried looking at all possibilities but can't activate the layer once it's sampled.

@woofw interesting, I haven't experience this issue. Make sure you have the correct layer selected where you want the new pixels to be painted. If you are working on a new blank layer for non-destructive editing, make sure that blank layer is the one you have selected to paint on. Even if you have "All Layers" selected, the Clone and Healing tools will still paint on the active layer (the one that is highlighted in the Layers panel). If you have a blank or transparent layer active, you can sample from all layers, but the tool won't be able to paint on the empty layer, which will make it appear inactive after you sample.
