Color Picker not selecting Hex Value

Hi there, I am currently running Photoshop v21.1 on a 2013 Mac Pro, and throughout the current version and the past few months of updates I keep running into an issue where the color picker tool preselects the "Cyan" field instead of the Hex field. 

This is very frustrating since I no longer can copy-paste values in, and instead I must tab a decent few times to get into the Hex field.

This issue seems to happen one week, then fix the next, and repeat. Is there a way I can stop this behavior?
