Hi, I use command H to hide my lasso tool but now it hides photoshop completely. I saw someone else on here had the same issue and someone said to reset preferences, which I did, but that didn't work. Anyone have any other suggestions? Thanks!

Hi @defaultqya6tzd00fu0

You can change the Command + H shortcut from macOS to Photoshop like this:

  • Go to Edit  > Keyboard Shortcuts > Application Menus > View menu
  • Click the disclosure triangle to expand the View menu
  • Scroll to Extras > change the shortcut back to Command + H > Accept
  • Click OK

What the [Profanity removed by moderator]

Once again I’m behind schedule. And once again, the brilliant brains at Adobe decide to roll out a bug.

I’m trying to get my job turned in on time. I need Command-H to hide selection, like it did up until 5 minutes ago.

@adobe  You guys seriously need Seeth back. Your UX sucks.

It’s been like this for as long as I can remember.

  • Cmd+H is the macOS shortcut for hide the application
  • Cmd+H is the Adobe shortcut for Hide > Extras
  • It’s not an issue for Windows users, because Windows OS does not use the Ctrl+H shortcut.

The first time you use Cmd+H, Photoshop asks you if you want to use the Mac shortcut or the Adobe shortcut. After that, it continues with your choice.

The steps for changing the shortcut are in the answer marked correct in this thread that you replied to. Here they are again so you don’t have to scroll to the very top of this thread find that post, highlighted in green.

  • Go to Edit  > Keyboard Shortcuts > Application Menus > View menu
  • Click the disclosure triangle to expand the View menu
  • Scroll to Extras > change the shortcut back to Command + H > Accept
  • Click OK

Apologies for the tirade.

Before commenting, I did try the steps in green. They did not work. Hence my comment.

Two pertinent points are:

  1. I already set the key commands shortcut to Command + H a long time ago and it has worked fine up till the moment it didn’t.

  2. When I tried to reset that key command by entering Command + H into the blank, Photoshop disappeared again.

The Mac shortcut has decided for some reason to override all other shortcuts. Or Adobe has changed something again.

If you know of a solution for this, I would be very appreciative.

Strangely, my Mac shortcut keys override this method and hides photoshop as I am trying to set the ‘hide extras’ shortcut. It wont let me change it.
