Copying the layer

When copying the layer, I wish to know whether all these three commands are give same result.

 

And [selecting the layer + Alt + Drag & Drop]

    You can also drag and drop a layer to the new layer icon on bottom of layers palette duplicate.

     

    Many ways same result. Holding down option works like a duplicate layer where you can target another file.

    Yes, with the addition of the ALT/OPT key to use a dialog, or not use a dialog as the case may be.

     

    Even with an embedded smart object, these commands are the equivalent of each other. Editing the original parent SO layer will update the child derivative SO layer copies/duplicates. In order to "break the link" between the parent SO and copies, one should use Layer > Smart Objects > New Smart Object via Copy.
