Question

Copyright and Saving?

I submit photos to stock agencies and they do not want the copyright marked with the photographer’s name.  I’ve noticed for several versions of Photoshop that if I delete my copyright name from the File Info and Save, then close, it reappears when I reopen the file. It usually takes three tries of deleting, saving, closing and reopening for this to stick. Is there an easier way to remove the copyright the first time on Saving. I do not want to remove it from ALL my photos, just the ones I want. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

You mention saving, which includes all metadata. I don't know why it appears if it is removed, unless you have setup Script Events Manager to automatically include your copyright details whenn opening a file.

Export As has the following metadata settings:

Quick Export has the following Settings/Preferences:

Export > Save for Web has the following metadata options:

Thanks so much for this, Stephen.  I haven’t set up anything , in fact I wouldn’t even know what scripts are ;-) Why is Saves properly after three attempts is strange to me too. Thanks for your help with this.

Rather than saving, look into Export As/Quick Export or Export > Save for Web. Double check the metadata settings in these options.

Alternatively, a Photoshop or Bridge script (or ExifTool) can be used to remove metadata without decompressing/recompressing JPEG data.

Thanks Stephen, I’ll try the Export As though I wonder why this started to happen in the last couple of years? It worked before.
