Talkes to Adobe support the other day. Reset all preferences. Worked for like a day. Now about every 10 minutes I have to restart Photoshop if I want to open any CR2 file from Bridge. This also happens sometimes when using Export > Save for Web.

SUPER OBNOXIOUS.

Started happing like a month ago.

Windows 11. All programs up to date.

Help?

This is very clearly the bug that was introduced in 25.11:

https://community.adobe.com/t5/photoshop-ecosystem-bugs/could-not-complete-the-camera-raw-filter-command-because-of-a-program-error/idc-p/14986515/page/2#M114884

The problem with this bug is that it's extremely elusive, occurring only after Photoshop has been running for quite some time, like a half hour to several days. If you just open Photoshop to check for it, it won't happen. It always works correctly on a fresh start. Exactly when it starts to fail, is totally unpredictable.

This makes it almost impossible to reproduce reliably, and even if you can, there's no way to tell which other events trigger it.

I've seen it off and on, on two separate desktop machines. One of them quite a bit more frequently than the other. It's not really a show-stopper, all it takes is to relaunch Photoshop, but quite annoying.

There is no way to get this to happen in 25.9 and earlier, even using the same ACR version. It started in 25.11. The problem is clearly in Photoshop, not ACR (or Bridge).

Exactly, this is a bug not isolated to my specific system.

Can you confirm exactly which versions of Bridge, Photoshop and Camera raw you have installed (latest can mean different things at different times).  Current versions (as on 25/12/24) are  Bridge (15.0.2.342) , Photoshop (v26.2.0 20241207.r.140) and Camera raw (17.1.0.2100)

Then go to Bridge > Preference >File Type Associations and confirm the entry for Canon Camera Raw (.crw, .cr2, .cr3) - it should be Adobe Photoshop 2025 26.2

If those are correct, open Photoshop and got to Help > System info and click Copy. Then paste the info into a post here.

I'd go for a full reinstall after using the Cleaner Tool

What I don't know, is if that will also remove Camera RAW.  That might happen if you also uninstall Bridge.
