Creating on PhotoShop, using a PNG or JPEG art file what is best to then print out.

I compile various artwork  and can use either a PNG or JPEG file to create the PS page.   I then print the finished product using a 12 color ink jet printer.   Do PNG or JPEG files print out the same ?   thank you

Jpeg and PNG are compressed formats mainly for saving space and bandwidth, at the price of some severe limitations. If your primary concern is storage space, both can be used as Conrad describes.

If, however, your main concern is to maintain quality and flexibility, keep master files as PSD or TIFF. They are the only file formats that fully support all Photoshop tools and functions.

PNG and JPEG are both OK on a desktop inkjet printer. However, there are some considerations.

PNG tends to work best for flat art/graphics, like if there are broad areas of solid color. Think comic book illustrations, logos, patterns, solid lines, type.

JPEG can save smaller files than PNG when they contain photographs, or continuous tone artwork like paintings. But stick to the higher JPEG compression quality levels because lower quality levels might not look good when printed.
