Question

Crop/Cut middle of photo and rejoin sides. Possible? Photoshop CC 2019

I am using Photoshop CC 2019 but I am still pretty new to it.

I have a photo of several deer resting in a field.  Some of the deer are spaced quite a ways apart.  I don't believe that the area between the deer adds anything to the photo so what I would like to do is crop or cut out some of the empty field between the deer, rejoin the sides and thus make them appear closer to each other.

I've tried to look this up, but I must not be wording my search right because I haven't been able to come up with anything useful so far.

Can anyone give me any guidance as to the best way to do this?  I'm also open to alternative methods of making the deer appearr closer to each other.

Thanks very much in advance.

Like kstohlmeyer1 said you can use Content Aware Scale. Maybe another tip to guide you a bit, when Content Aware Scale doesn't work: you can also try this:

  1. Duplicate the layer (so you've got two exact layers on top of each other)
  2. Then try to mask the top layer with layer masks (this tutorial explains very basically how Layer Masks work: Make your first layer mask |  )
  3. Try to blend the images together with this layer mask (for example: erase the middle field in the top layer with the layer mask, and move the deers towards each other)
  4. Crop the image

This is just a really rough explanation, but maybe this helps you out a bit. You should really try to learn Layer Masks in Photoshop

You should try the content aware scale feature. It was built for instances just like this.
