Crop lots of images to the same Graphic area

Don't know if I am missing something

Does anyone know how to crop the same size area of an image area? I have 13 scans of tide chart  showing tide flow every hour  all the same size map with tide info overall  The scans have been done by me all settings the same all at 400DPI  settings I am trying to crop the same size area out of each page  showing just a small area of the charts (Just as if I had cut each image out of the book with scissors! )

I am line up one point up on a graphic point on each of the images ie line mark arrowhead or something in each of the graphics areas don't know if there is a better way to do this? 

With the crop tool, I am setting the size but this is just controlling the aspect of the area I required it as a  fix the size of the crop area you can drag it out to any size area you like.

I can't guarantee the overall scan area of each of the overall page so the overall image size of the border area is different on each scan and as it was book half the scans are upside down and rotated in the scanner program and were not always tight up against the scanner edges.

In this case, I am looking at the size of each of the cropped areas, not resolution.

is there a way to do this?

    Hi Andrew,

    My take on your question is that you need the exact same size crop box on multiple images?

    Try using the Rectangular Marquee tool, followed by Edit > Crop. With the Marquee tool selected, you can specify the width and height of the selection in the Options Bar, and you can save the settings with a Tool Preset that will be available in any file.

    Another approach might be to use

    • File > Scripts > Load Files into Stack

    • align the images manually (Edit > Auto-Align Layers might not produce a meaningful result if the differences between the images are too big)

    • crop the image (with »Delete Cropped Pixels« unchecked)

    • File > Export > Layers to Files

      I will try to decode what you have written and ask that you confirm the following:

      1. You have scanned 13 pages from a book.

      2. Within each scan is a small specific area, common to all, although the image content is different.

      3. The area common to all is of a common magnification.

      3. The specific area is not in the same position in all scans.

      4. You cannot be assured that each scan area is perfectly horizontal.

      5. If asked, you can place two easily seen dots in each scan:

      Point A: shows the upper left corner of a desired crop.

      Point B: is an A-to-B horizontal alignment reference for the crop. (For rotation, if needed)

      If all of the above are correct, it is possible that by using one scan as a Master, you can use the Difference Blending Mode to align all the points of reference and create a common crop of a 13-layered file, then save each layer as a separate file.

      Having had a few replies so far! I think I need to use the Marquee tool set at a fixed size then copy an area inside the marquee and paste into a new image file and save all my cropped images in a new single folder leaving my original scans untouched for use at a later date

      I had been trying to use the crop tool to do this job. I do need to keep track of all the images with good naming control but apart from that I think it is solved. I could not find out how to do this thanks for your help

        Have you actually read BarbBinder ’s first reply?

        After setting the selection you should invoke the menu command Image > Crop.

          I have found that tool but the size of the crop is not fixed only the propositions I need to crop to a fixed size as an example an area says 40mm High X 60mm Wide from every one of the original image file! But as you need to drag the crop frame out to a fixed size I am looking to always get a frame size of 60X40 The frame does not appear to be fixed

          I wish to end up with 13 images all of the same area of the chart I have been doing this by eye in the past but not that good. Would like a little more control

          After that, I am dropping the images into a simple word doc table showing the tide info for that area at a fixed time High Water, HW 1h, HW2h and so on it would be nice if every image was the same area at the same scale

          Hope this makes a little more sense

          I am not sure what you are describing exactly.
