Crop tool preset won't save

I just had to re-install Photoshop 2024 and it helpfully wiped all my tool presets! So now I want to re-establish them, specifically the crop tool. I had saved some presets and re-installed them and they work. But now I am trying to create some new ones. They save the preset name but when I click the preset it does nothing. Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong?

Oh amazing! I just tried clicking around in different tools, changing the crop tool settings etc and now it's suddenly working. I must have inadvertently cleared or reset something. I just hope the functionality is maintained.

@m5heath anytime I see someone having issues with presets or preferences not saving properly ususally means the account is not running as an administrator. Quit PS and go to the Photoshop.exe application. Shift+Right-Click and choose "Run as Administrator" try creating and saving a preset again and see what happens.

Thanks for responding. I tried that but sadly no change to the issue. Funnily enough I just tried saving some presets for different tools and they all worked. I'm now wondering whether the crop tool presets I reinstalled have created some kind of conflict even though they themselves actually work? They were dated 2017.
