CS6 Registration problem

Question

I purchased CS6 Design and Web Premium in 2013. Have used it without problem...

until the two computer I used it on crashed and are dead. Can't boot them.

I have downloaded and installed CS6 Design and Web Premium on a new computer.

Download and install went OK. I can use CS6 programs on a "trial basis". Works fine.

My problem is when I click "License This Software".

I am told to sign in (to Adobe). I do...

The sign in appears to work and then a fraction of a second later

I see the sign in window again... That loop continues indefinitely

Any ideas? Help would be appreciated.

More facts. CS6 was licensed on the machines that crashed.

The products page - https://account.adobe.com/products

shows my license and no indication that it's in use.

The activated devices page - https://account.adobe.com/activated-devices

shows no activated devices.

How to get my license accepted... Any ideas?

Adobe will no longer reset the activation count beyond the two allowed activation slots. That means you cannot activate a new install unless one or both of the previous installs have been deactivated first. It sounds like you weren't able to do that, in which case there's nothing you can do. Your two activations are gone and you won't get an extension.

So it's a moot point that you get this sign in loop. I don't know why that even comes up - there was no "sign in" for a perpetual CS 6 license. You would just enter your serial number and the software would activate silently in the background. There was nothing the user needed to do to activate, just the serial number.

I had the same issue with the "looping" 'License This Software' for my CS6 software after uninstalling CC and installing CS6. I found two solutions to the problem. One, a user who had an active subscription to CC, was experiencing the same issue (big surprise I know) so I had hopes the solution would work. Then, I found a similar solution on, believe it or not, the Adobe website for versions prior to CC. Trying each one, both failed to resolve the issue. So, I combined all of the steps of each solution and completed them all. And...it worked. The license registration was accepted.

A couple of caveats:

1. Shutdown your computer and turn it back on before completing the steps.
2. When you complete all of the steps, use your smartphone to scan the login link and complete the steps using your phone. When you put in your password at the last step, it may bring up a screen that says "there is an issue (or something to this effect), but should have a button below the text that says "approve/accept this login". Click on it and hopefully it will work. For some reason, using the laptop to login for license registration never worked, but I had some success using my phone. I figured it may be better, especially since that button appears to override and say approve the sign-in even if there is some glitch. (Note: I first tried the laptop login link and it failed. I tried it on my smartphone by scanning the link and it worked. You may need to go through the log-in process 1-2 times, but have heart as this worked for me.)

Here is what I did to fix it...I just combined the instructions from both solutions where it made sense, making sure to complete all of the steps. The difference seems to be in selecting the Advanced tab in the Properties dialog box and applying the changes to child object permissions, but who knows why this worked.

YOUTUBE INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Quit Creative Cloud and close all Abobe processes, making sure Adobe IPC Broker is last to be closed.
2. go to %appdata%, go back one (from Roaming) to "Local" and then "Adobe" and delete "AAMUpdater" and "OOBE" Folders
3. go to %programdata% and then into "Adobe" folder, rename "SLStore" folder to "SLStore_old"
4. go to "C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files" and right click "Adobe" folder opening "properties"
5. Open the "Security" Tab under properties and assign all "allow" persmissions for the "Users" group. Click okay and ignore any warnings.
6. Close everything and open any adobe app (one that gave the problem) by right-clicking on it and choosing "Run as Administrator". Sign in and do the usual and it should open fine.
7. Close the adobe app and do the same with Adobe creative cloud, by right-clicking "run as administrator" and it should also work.

ADOBE INSTRUCTIONS:
1. In the Windows taskbar, select File Explorer.
2. In the search bar at the top, enter these paths to go to SLStore and Adobe PCD: (I just opened two different FEs, one for each)
SLStore: ProgramData\Adobe\SLStore
Adobe PCD: Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Adobe PCD\ (32-bit); Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\ Adobe PCD\ (64-bit)
3. In File Explorer, right-click the Adobe PCD or the SLStore folder, and select Properties. Select the Security tab, and then select Edit to set permissions: (Here, I just gave full control Everyone, Users, System, and Administrator - basically everything listed)

SLStore
Administrators: Full control
System: Full control
Users: Read & Special permissions

Adobe PCD
Administrators: Full control

4. Select OK > Apply to close the permissions dialog box.
5. Now select Advanced in the properties dialog box. Select Replace all child object permission entries with inheritable permission entries from this object. Select OK, and then select Apply. (I suspect this may be the key step, but I know less than zero about this, so whatevs)
6. Finally, select OK to close the SLStore or Adobe PCD properties dialog box.
7. Launch the Creative Cloud app again.

Don't forget to try the log in from a smartphone as this seemed to bring success over using the laptop.
