Cursor Keeps Defaulting Into Numeric Values / Sliders When Using Adjustment Layers

Question

If I create an adjustment layer, the cursor defaults to one of the adjustment sliders. This means that if I want to start adjusting the layer mask, I have to first hit enter / deselect the slider.

I don't recall this being an issue in the past, it's become incredibly apparent in the last month or so and it's really disruptive.

Has anyone else come across this?

Please update to Photoshop 26.11 (2025), which is available via the Creative Cloud desktop app, and check if the issue appears with the latest version of Photoshop.
