cut an image with a liquify inside the smart object

Hi everyone,

I have a problem with some images that contain a smart object. I need to modify the crop after working with the liquify tool. When I crop, the liquify shifts from the area it should act on. Does anyone have a solution? For now I've duplicated all the images and I'm rasterizing the layer, but obviously I can't go back. Thanks a lot.

This is how it has always worked, since the liquify mesh is based on the canvas bounds so changing the bounds changes where the mesh is applied. My workaround has always been to nest the smart object inside another smart object if I need to change the crop on a file that has a liquified SO. That is, before cropping / expanding, on the smart obj, right click it and convert to smart object again. Your liquify will be contained in the outer smart object and then your other layers etc will be inside that nested one.

Hey, @Stefano22293090jlug. Welcome to the Photoshop Community. I'll help you figure this out. Based on the limited description, this behavior could be expected, but we'll need specific workflow info to be sure. Please share a video of the issue and the system info from Photoshop Help > System info > Copy and paste into a text document > Upload and attach here.

As a test, try these steps:

1—Go to Photoshop > Settings > Performance > Advanced Settings > Disable/uncheck GPU Compositing & restart Photoshop.

2—Please test and confirm if Photoshop (Beta) has an issue. You can get Photoshop (Beta) from the Creative Cloud > Apps tab > Beta Apps section.

Thanks!
