Question

Did Photoshop 27.10.0 become barely usable in offline mode?

Hi,

I just updated to 27.10.0 and Photoshop has become barely usable.
(I use a recent and powerful PC)

Some operations that took a fraction of a second this morning now take more than 10 seconds with the new version.

I known you are trying to add a lot of AI features...but do not forget that there many legitimate reasons why some people may want or need to work on their images while offline.

The only way to get decent response times with the application now it to stay connected to the Internet.

Please fix this issue ASAP

Thanks
Olivier

This isn’t normal behavior. I just tried to pull out the internet cable and everything works normally. Every function is as snappy as ever. So this must be some kind of rare conflict - and as such, it may sound like a genuine bug. For the engineers to reproduce this behavior, the System Info is critically needed.

Photoshop only needs to be online for a very few things. A license check every 30 days - and any generative AI functions that are processed remotely on Adobe’s servers:

It’s not AI. There’s no AI in Photoshop until you specifically call those functions that do use it.

That said, Photoshop 27.10 has a couple of other serious bugs (among which broken color management), so the best advice right now is to roll back to version 27.9.1, and stay on that for now. That’s what most of us have done. Keep watching the forum for any news of bug fixes and updates.

As for the slowness, that’s impossible to say anything specific about without seeing your complete Help > System Info.

    Not sure it is necesary.

I have an Ethernet switch that I can use switch on/off Internet connection.

    Switch Internet off
Open Photoshop, open image, crop image….slow
    Close image. Close Photoshop
    Switch Internet on
    Re-open Photoshop, re-open image, crop image….fast
    Close image. Close Photoshop
    Re-open Photoshop, re-open image, crop image….slow (again)
    Close image. Close Photoshop
    Switch Internet on
    Re-open Photoshop, re-open image, crop image….fast

Tried this several times, same results

How do I revert to previous version?
