Distortions occurring in the background of photographs.

Question

Hello friends. I have a few questions.
1) What is the reason for these distortions in photo backgrounds?
2) What should be taken into consideration to prevent this from happening?
3) If there is corruption, how to fix it?

Do you mean the banding or stepping in the color gradients? Sometimes that’s a consequence of having only 8 bits (256 levels) in each color channel. This can be in the file or on the display.

To eliminate it in a file, try setting Image > Mode to 16 bits/channel. If that is not practical, try enabling the Dither option for the gradient.

If the file is known to be smooth and the problem is only on the display, first make sure the display is properly profiled, and if hardware calibration is possible, also calibrated.

If all of the above is still not enough, and it is an undithered gradient at 16 bits/channel, try opening Preferences (called Settings on macOS), click Technology Previews, and enable Precise Previews for 16-bit Documents. This fixes a problem Photoshop has long had with gradient banding. Greg Benz covers it in one of his videos:
